'Create Event' Privilege Does Not Allow User To Edit Or Delete Their Own Event

Symptoms
The description of the 'Create Events' permissions option in the WebCenter Users Guide, Section 52.2.1.2 Understanding Permissions and Permissions Models in a Space is as follows :
'Create events, edit and delete events that you create. '
However, this is not working as expected.
Users cannot edit their own events and they cannot delete their own events.
- There is no Save or Update option available when the existing event is edited, so it cannot be changed.
and
- Selecting the 'Delete' option for the event does not delete it and results in this Warning :
You do not have permission to delete the event or your permission to delete the event is revoked. refresh the Events task flow to see the changes if necessary.
