nmKill() Does Not Stop A Managed Server on AIX (Doc ID 1383265.1)

Last updated on JULY 01, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Middleware - Version 11.1.1.1.0 to 11.1.1.5.0 [Release Oracle11g]
IBM AIX on POWER Systems (64-bit)

Symptoms

In FMW 11.1.1.5 on AIX 6.1, the managed servers can be started up via the node manager but stopping them does not work.

When starting a managed server, the following error is reported in the managed server <domain home>/servers/<managed server>/logs/<managed server>.out file:

the nmKill() issues the kill signal but it is ignored by the managed server.  This is a generic problem and applies to any managed server.

The node manager confirms on its log it has killed the process but the "ps" command at OS level shows the WLS managed server process is still running.  Also the WLS Admin Console shows the managed server is still up and running.
