Unable To Monitor Oracle GlassFish Server Using JConsole - "Note: The management agent is not enabled on this process." (Doc ID 1389169.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to attach to an application server or node-agent process using JConsole, the following error occurs.

ERROR:
Note: The management agent is not enabled on this process.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Start the GlassFish Server domain using JDK 1.5.0_22
2. Run JDK 1.5.0_22 jconsole and see that no processes are listed, then run JDK 1.6.0_24 JConsole and the PIDs are listed. However, the error is displayed when selecting the Application Server PID.

Due to this issue, the administrators cannot monitor the GlassFish Server JVM using JConsole.
