Last updated on JULY 21, 2023

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This document describes how to set the network interface manually to overcome JMX (Java Management Extensions) related issues.

Scenario 1

Systems with more than one network interface:

During installation, the JVM configurations for the MBean Server for JConsole and the Remote Objects for JMXtools are autoatically updated to the server address with one of the network interfaces.  If it chooses the wrong network interface, clients will not be able to connect.

Scenario 2

Laptop users tend to move from network to network a lot and this can cause problems with the registry entries set up for JMX.
