This document describes how to manually set the network interface to overcome JMX (Java Management Extensions) related issues.

Scenario 1

Systems with more than one network interface.

During the installation process the JVM configurations for (MBean server for jconsole and the Remote objects for jmxtools) updates the value of server address with one of Network Interfaces. If it chooses the wrong one, clients will not be able to connect.

Scenario 2

Laptop users tend to move from network to network a lot and this can cause problems with the registry entries set up for JMX.
