Symptoms

Would like to enable registration to WebCenter Spaces by invitation only. Do not want to expose public access or registration to the created spaces.

Example steps in WebCenter Spaces Instance:

Note: The Space is hidden.

Configured space and application as follows:

1. Set application level self registration to allow registration by invite only.
2. Set membership option on Space.
3. Selected "Invite Non-Web Center Spaces Users" and entered email.
4. User received invitation email, but when tried to register, receive the following message.

"Public registration is not enabled for this site."

NOTE: When Self Registration is set to "Allow Public User to Self Register", external users were able to register successfully.  However, the goal is to allow register by Invite only and not all Public users.
