Symptoms

On : Oracle Virtual Directory 11.1.1.4.0 version, Virtual Directory Server 

error while running ldapadd command

The insufficient access error is coming when use the whole dn of orcladmin.

bash-3.2$ ./ldapadd -p <ovd_port> -h <ovd_host> -D "cn=orcladmin,cn=Users,dc=test,dc=com" -w ******* -f test.ldif
adding new entry cn=old1,ou=mycontainer,cn=Groups,dc=test,dc=com
ldap_add: Insufficient access


When we give ldapadd with only "cn=orcladmin" it gives following error.


bash-3.2$ ./ldapadd -p <ovd_port> -h <ovd_host> -D "cn=orcladmin" -w ******* -f test.ldif
adding new entry cn=old1,ou=mycontainer,cn=Groups,dc=test,dc=com
ldap_add: Operation not allowed on RDN
ldap_add: additional info: LDAP Error 67 : Modifying distinguished value of the entry without modifying the DN.
