ODSEE 11gR1 Corrupted Characters Replacing The IP Address In Access Log (Doc ID 1403508.1)

Last updated on MAY 17, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version: to - Release: 11gR1 to 11gR1
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Adding nsslapd-listenhost and/or nsslapd-securelistenhost ( to 11gR1 versions ( &, and then running an ldapsearch we see a null IP for the 'closing from' instead of an IP address.

[25/Jan/2012:17:20:44 +0100] conn=1 op=1 msgId=-1 - closing from :33188 - U1 - Connection closed by unbind client -

and with a canceled ldapmodify we see corrupt data for the 'closing from' IP such as,

[26/Jan/2012:11:31:43 +0000] conn=10 op=1 msgId=0 - RESULT err=80 tag=120 nentries=0 etime=0
[26/Jan/2012:11:31:43 +0000] conn=10 op=-1 msgId=-1 - closing from ÿÿÿ$

The above is just one example, the corrupted data can appear differently each time.

With nsslapd-listenhost set on DS 6.3.1, for both the ldapsearch and ldapmodify we see 'unknown ip' instead.

[26/Jan/2012:11:45:10 +0000] conn=0 op=1 msgId=-1 - closing from unknown ip:62782 - U1 - Connection closed by unbind
