RAW Data Type not Supported with BAM (Doc ID 1404432.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.


There are two scenarios where RAW datatype has been used with BAM server:

  • The schema used for BAM had RAW datatype fields
  • The table fields where an external data source was connecting had RAW datatype fields

When you start the BAM server , it fails with error :

<Nov 22, 2011 12:28:14 PM EET> <Error> <HTTP> <BEA-101216> <Servlet:
"BamServer" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "/oracle/bam".
java.lang.Exception: BAM data store server failed to start.
at oracle.bam.adc.kernel.server.DataStoreServer.startup(

Caused By: oracle.bam.adc.common.exceptions.CacheException: BAM-01211: The error, , has occurred involving dataset {1} in the Active Data Cache internal data access system.

Caused By: oracle.bam.system.exceptions.NotSupportedException: Column type RAW is not supported.
