Error Configuring Database Connection 20036; 16389 "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified" (Doc ID 1415770.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to configure WebCenter Enterprise Capture to connect to an Oracle Database with a complicated connection string, they are able to configure the DB connection and test the connection and initialization is reported as successful. However, when reopening Capture the following messages are displayed:


Login failed.
Error number:20036
Error Description: [The following error occurred connecting to the database:
Error Number 20036
Error Description: The following error occurred connecting to the database:
Error Number: 16389
Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified]


followed by:


The following error occurred connecting to the database:
Error Number: 16389
Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified


The data used for the connection string is for the "Oracle Provider for OLE DB" and the data source specified is:


(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=machinename_01.oracleoutsourcing.com)(PORT=10710)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=DFAFC010)))


Attempting to configure for the smaller TNS Name in Capture for this connection results in error:


ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
