Last updated on SEPTEMBER 25, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Directory Server 11.1.1.5.0

Symptoms

On DSEE11.1.1.5.0, log rotation by "Rotate ONLY if Log File Size Exceeds" functionality does not work.

*** Test Case ***

[Configuration on DSCC]
Server configuration tab -> access logging

<Log Rotation>
Max Number of Log Files:20

Time Based Log Rotation:
* [checked]Rotate Log Files at Regular Time Interval:
Time Interval: 2 minutes
Time of Day: Any: Any
* [checked]Rotate ONLY if Log File Size Exceeds: 1 MB

File Size Based Log Rotation:
* [checked]Rotate Log Files When Size Limit Exceeded
Size Limit: 1000 MB

Using the above configuration the log file should rotate only if:

"2 minutes has passed"
AND
"when the file size exceeds 1MB"

But actually the log file rotates:

"when 2 minutes has passed"
OR
"when file size exceeds 1MB"

The log file rotates even though the file size does not reach 1MB.
