Symptoms

WebCenter portal page gets corrupted if a parameter with apostrophe(') is entered in page properties.

Webcenter 11.1.1.5.0 steps to reproduce the issue :

1. A user creates a page using "Create Page" option in WebCenter administration console: enters a name, selects a page template and a page style.
2. In edit mode of that page, the user press "Page Properties" button and in the popup windows opens "Parameters" tab.
3.If the page style page definition (XML) contains parameters (<parameter id='paramA' ... />) and the page style (JSPX) contains a reference to that parameter (... value = "${binding.paramA}"...) .
4. The user cannot enter a String with an "apostrophe". If so, the page gets corrupted and the following error appears in the window all the time (no more actions can be performed):

In the stack trace I can see :

<UIXRegion> <getRegionModel>
java.lang.IllegalStateException: The expression "#{bindings.doc_pane0.regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "j_id__ctru2pc6") evaluated to null.
This is typically due to an error in the configuration of the objects referenced by this expression.
If it helps, the expression "#{bindings.doc_pane0}" evaluates to "null".
If it helps, the expression "#{bindings}" evaluates to "oracle_adfinternal_view_page_editor_pageDefs_pageeditorpanelPageDef_oracle_adfinternal_pageeditor_taskflows_pageeditor_task_flow_xml_pageeditor_task_flow". Now using an empty RegionModel instead.
