Symptoms
Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0 hangs on Startup running as webadmin user. The command prompt doesn't return. The web server processes do start as seen by a 'ps' output. The processes need to be killed (kill -9) from another window or CTRL-Z and then kill them (CTRL-C does not work). This is seen for the web server and the admin server. Sending requests to the web or admin server url's gets no response. There are not any sockets being created (nothing ever gets started on ports <PORT>--web server, or <PORT>--admin server as seen in "netstat -an|egrep '<PORT>|<PORT>').
