Last updated on AUGUST 11, 2015
Applies to:
Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 1.0.0.0.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
In Exalogic environment running with EECS versions 1.0 and 2.0 certain Infiniband switch administration operations through SEFOS Command Line Interface failing with "Permission Denied" error was observed.
Certain operations like trying to add a banner, trying to set an exec timeout for console or vty and trying to add a user using the username option we get "permission denied/not logged in as root" error message which indicates the privilege level is incorrect for the operation.
As an example when trying to perform user management using the Command line interface of the Switch firmware (SEFOS - Sun Ethernet Fabric Operating System), the action (add user) fails with the below reported error:
# username "exauser
SEFOS(config)# username "exauser"
SEFOS(config)# username "exauser" password "exapasswd
SEFOS(config)# username "exauser" password "exapasswd"
SEFOS(config)# username "exauser" password "exapasswd" privilege 15
%Permission denied !! Need to be root user
