Will SCAN IP Addresses Be Used When Configured If VIP Addresses are Used Instead in the JDBC Connection String to an Oracle Real Applications Cluster (RAC)?
(Doc ID 1441022.1)

JDBC - Version 11.2.0.3.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
When using an Oracle Real Applications Cluster (RAC), the recommended practice is to use Single Client Access Name (SCAN) so that clients have a single network address with which to connect to the cluster, rather than a set of IP numbers or host names the might change if the cluster topology changes. But if SCAN is not wished to be used, will SCAN IP numbers still end up being used in the communication between the client and the server?
