Last updated on SEPTEMBER 19, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 6.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to replicate,
the following error occurs.

-----------------------
ERROR<8282> - Replication - conn=13 op=2 msgId=3 - Duplicate Replica ID Failed to start Replication Session for suffix dc=SUFFIX_DN.

-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Set up replication between 2 primary servers, a hub, and 2 consumers.
2. Remove replication agreements from the Primary Server to the hub, and remove replication agreements from the hub to the consumers.
3. Disable replication on the consumers, and then re-enable replication on the consumers making them Primary Servers through the DSCC (where it is not possible to specify a unique replica ID for each new Primary Server) - OR - enable replication through dsconf enable-repl and do not specify a unique replica ID for the -d switch.
4. Create replication agreements from the Primary Server to the new Primary Servers.
