OID is Not Started Automatically After Server Reboot. No Errors in OID Log Files. (Doc ID 1447319.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 10.1.4.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Internet Directory (OID10g and OID 11g) does not start automatically after server reboot. Normally after the server is rebooted, all the processes including OID are up and running.

ldapbind fails:

$ echo ldapbind -h OIDHOSTNAME -p OIDPORT
Cannot connect to the LDAP server

There are no errors in the OID log files. The last entry in the $ORACLE_HOME/ldap/log/oidmon.log is dated prior to the server reboot.

Steps to reproduce

1. Reboot the server where OID is installed.
2. Try to access the application that uses OID for authentication: error.
3. Run ldapbind: Cannot connect to the LDAP server
