Goal

Given a source content item that is being linked to a target content item using the RelatedContent component, it is desired to validate the selected Item(s) in the 'link to' page to see if they meet certain criteria. For example, is a metadata field which is supposed to be numeric only filled in with all numbers, and is there already a linked item in the links table then users should be warned. This could be done via a filter of some sort that runs in the background and checks both the source and target content items and the links tables in the database.
