How to Work Around "ORA-12899: value too large for column" when Polling a Database where the Primary Key Exceeds 100 Bytes (Doc ID 1454595.1)

The following error occurs when polling a database where the primary key exceeds 100 bytes:

According to <note 1113215.1>, the solution is:


  1. Delete the database adapter and recreate it selecting fewer columns when presented with the Attribute Filtering, or
  2. Manually edit or-mappings.xml and remove from the the elements corresponding to columns that are not necessary to ensure uniqueness.

This note provides an alternative workaround to the above solution.
