Symptoms


JDBC/thin application  connecting from to an AIX 11.1.0.7 database and performing a large query through a database link to another AIX 11.1.0.7 database gets a Protocol violation
When the query syntax is reduced in size by selecting fewer columns the query succeeds


 

Changes

 
The issue does not happen in sqlplus.
The issue does not happen when using databases 11.2.0.3.
The issue was reproduced for various JDBC/thin drivers including 11.2.0.3
The issue does not reproduce when the query syntax is short.
