Java error: 'Unable to find valid certification path to requested target' when trying to connect via TCPS (Doc ID 1457274.1)

Symptoms

You have successfully configured TCPS on a server.
After you have imported the certificates into the wallets on the server and client
you are able to connect with sqlplus over TCPS to the Server.

But if you try to connect with SQL Developer you get the following error:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
