Symptoms
Trying to Sort an external table's result set throws ORA-00600 internal error code. When one tries to view the SQL view for that particular object the following error is seen in the log window
Unable to render TABLE DDL for object <Object_Name> with DBMS_METADATA attempting internal generator.
Trying to browse that object and view its contents becomes impossible and nothing happens when the object name is double clicked.
