Goal

With Oracle Text Search and WebCenter Content, it is possible to sort search results by score. This works well out of the box if the search is only using the full text field. However, when metadata fields are added into the search, the scores become identical, making score sorts less useful in determining the value of the search hits.  This note illustrates a method of modifiying the score values through the use of the Oracle Text operator DEFINESCORE.  Changing the score output requires a customization to WebCenter Content, and this document only proposes the method of altering score values, with the intent that customers desiring tailored scores can use the examples to achieve their goal.
