Slowness on Application Login Using LDAP as Authenticator Provider (Doc ID 1473752.1)

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Slowness on login process is observed when users are authenticated against a LDAP server. In average, users spend 90 seconds to obtain access to the application.

First attempt was to decrease the group membership searching scope by configuring two parameters at provider level as specified by the Note 1077534.1 (Group Membership Searching and Max Group Membership Search Level). Unfortunately, this configuration did not solve the problem. Performance improvements were not noticed.

WebLogic 10.3.3 was set along with Sun One Directory server as external authenticator provider. This component was considered complex in terms of interaction, given the fact had more than 5000 groups and 4000 users, with nested groups and referals to be followed.

Issue was reproduced in oracle boxes by recreating customer environment and configuring LDAP users to be able to log into the Administration console (Note 1384908.1 was used as reference).
