Adding sort criteria to a searchstate (Doc ID 1482381.1)

We have a requirement where we want to search for certain asset types based on certain attributes of a flex family asset. We are looking to use "searchstate" tags in order to achieve the results. At the same time we are also looking to sort the results based on the "updated date" field of the asset. We found that at present we have no way to add sort conditions in this tag. We may have a high number of records that we will fetch and thus want to avoid navigating through the resulset and then performing sort on these records ourselves once records have been fetched. What is the best way to achieve the desired results?
