On Windows 2003 running Internet Explorer (IE) 8 using Java SE 6 update 21 with the next-generation plugin turned on. This is in the context of a Citrix environment where Citrix is used only for presentation and connection layers and where IE is installed directly on Windows, not under the Citrix environment, and launched through a double-click of the shortcut link on the Windows deskop. Java 1.5 update 9 is installed for Citrix compatibility but IE is configured to use Java 6 update 21 only.
When running three different custom web-based Java applications launched through IE, the following error occurs intermittently causing IE to crash:
Several Java virtual machines running in the same process caused an error.
The issue cannot be reproduced at will. It has occurred just a handful of times and no data (other than the error message above) was able to be captured during the problem occurrence. A test case is not available nor is a remote access point demonstrating the problem.
