Images Referenced Within CSS In Page Template Are Not Found (HTTP-404) (Doc ID 1485008.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 01, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.6.0 to 11.1.1.6.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Templates in Spaces are edited to include images stored in the MDS.
e.g.

  .xq6[theme="webcenter"]
{
background: url('/oracle/webcenter/siteresources/scopedMD/shared/images/discussions_icon.png') repeat-x scroll 0 0 transparent;
  }

These images are not found. The pages in the Space do not show the expected image.
Also, HTTP-404 errors are seen in the access log.

e.g. GET /oracle/webcenter/siteresources/scopedMD/shared/images/discussions_icon.png HTTP/1.1" 404 1164

The URL works directly in a browser and the expected image is displayed.

Using similar HTML code, but accessing images with a direct URL which are nit stired in the MDS works fine. e.g.

  .xq6[theme="webcenter"]
{
 background: url('http://<HOST>/us/assets/oralogo-small.gif') repeat-x scroll 0 0 transparent;
  }
