Login To OAM Console Consistently Fails With Invalid Credentials

Login to OAM Console (/oamconsole) as the OAM administrator user is failing, it continuously produces error invalid username/password.
Login has suddenly started failing although no changes have been made to the OAM Identity Store configuration recently.
ldapbind with the OAM administrator user credentials is successful.
OAM SSO login to other protected resources is working fine.
The OAM managed server diagnostic log shows the following errors when authentication is attempted:
