Configuring Oracle JMS Adapter with IBM WebSphere MQ JMS for use with Multi Instance Queue Managers (Doc ID 1493149.1)

Last updated on APRIL 19, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle SOA Suite - Version 11.1.1.6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Multi Instance Queue Managers are an optional configuration option for IBM WebSphere MQ JMS.  This type of configuration allows for the failover of an MQ Queue Manager to an alternate host in a highly available environment.

The documented Oracle JMS Adapter configuration for use with IBM WebSphere MQ JMS assumes the use of a single pair of HostName and Port parameters.  This is the only HostName and Port used by the Oracle JMS Adapter instance to connect to the Queue Manager for an IBM WebSphere MQ JMS server.

The product documentation shows the FactoryProperties value configuration parameters for Oracle JMS Adapter with IBM WebSphere MQ JMS  as:
<name>FactoryProperties</name>
<value>QueueManager=<QUEUEMANAGER>;TransportType=1;HostName=<YOUR-HOST>;Port=<YOUR-PORT>;Channel=<CHANNEL>;ThirdPartyJMSProvider=true</value>

The Oracle JMS Adapter is certified to use a single pair of HostName and Port parameter values for FactoryProperties. This means, if you have IBM WebSphere MQ JMS set up to use Multi Instance Queue Managers and the active Queue Manager has been failed over to a host which is NOT the host you've identified using the HostName and Port parameters for your Oracle JMS Adapter instance, your Oracle JMS Adapter connection to the QueueManger will fail.
