Login Error When Password Has Special Characters (Doc ID 1495766.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 12, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Access Manager - Version 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.2.0.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Users having special characters in their passwords like "£" cannot login to protected Resource. An error "Invalid Username/Password" is displayed on the screen. This happens only with custom login screen.

This happens with any backend ldap server like: Microsoft Active Directory, Oracle Identity Directory as identity store in OAM deployments.

The same users can login fine to AD directly, for example login in windows domain.
Also, the same users also cannot login to any other app protected by OAM, like content management.

Steps to Reproduce
===================
1. Create a user with normal password

2. The user can login to Spaces correctly

3. Change the password so that it has a special character like "£" in it (i.e. £elcome1)

4. Try to login to Spaces with that user, and notice that the user gets an error
