Getting Java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException When Connecting JDBC/thin SSL from an IBM JDK 1.6 but works with Oracle JDK 1.6 (Doc ID 1506295.1)

Symptoms

JDBC test program using JDBC/thin version 11.2.0.3 fails to connect with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) when running on an IBM JDK IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, JRE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4.  

The same program connects fine with SSL when running from an Oracle JDK.

The issue is specific to SSL protocol TCPS and does not occur with protocol TCP.



 

Changes

 The database's sqlnet.ora is configured with SSL_VERSION = 3.0.
