WebLogic Silent Installation Mode Installs WLS Samples Even if the Component is Not Selected (Doc ID 1507131.1)

Last updated on MAY 09, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customers report trying to install WebLogic Server using silent mode (wls1036_generic.jar) and excluding WLS Samples from the component path in silent.xml, but the WLS Samples are getting installed regardless. They follow this documentation: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e14142/silent.htm#BABGGACD. For example, say the silent.xml is set up as follows:

<data-value name="COMPONENT_PATHS" value="WebLogic Server/Core Application Server|WebLogic Server/Administration Console|WebLogic Server/Configuration Wizard and Upgrade Framework|WebLogic Server/Web 2.0 HTTP Pub-Sub Server|WebLogic Server/WebLogic JDBC Drivers|WebLogic Server/Third Party JDBC Drivers|WebLogic Server/WebLogic Server Clients|WebLogic Server/WebLogic Web Server Plugins|WebLogic Server/UDDI and Xquery Support" />
<data-value name="COMPONENT_PATHS" value="WebLogic Server|Oracle Coherence" />

When the Coherence component is installed during WLS installation, the WLS samples directory also is installed though the samples component is optional.
