OAM 10g Integrated With SecurID Generates "Plug-in Status Abort" Errors

Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 10.1.4 Access Server integrated with SecurID for authentication repeatedly thows "Plug-in status abort" errors.
This causes periodic problems with SecurID authentication, until the affected Access Server is restarted.
The Access Server(s) used for authentication runs for several days (e.g. 20), then starts generating the following error when performing SecurID-integrated authentication:
