Purpose

The purpose of this document is to help with collecting and analyzing the information which is used to help troubleshoot the import operations which fail with ODI-23040 message.

For example, what needs to be investigated when the import in synonym INSERT_UPDATE of a Project Variable fails and signals:

ODI-23040: Import file "D:\MYDIR\VAR_MYVAR.xml" error

 Step 0. Use ODI 11.1.1.7.0 or later
 Step 1. Do not import from ODI 10.1.3.4 and older
 Step 2. Use Smart Export / Smart Import in replacement of simple export / import operations
 Step 3. Confirm the .xml file is valid, and well-formed
 Step 4. Parse the .xml file and determine which Objects from the Topology are used
 Step 5. Parse the .xml file and determine which Objects from Designer and Operator are used
 Step 6. Verify the Repository IDs

 Step 8. Parse the .xml file and verify the "SqlIndGrp" values
