Oracle GlassFish Server Hangs When Calling HTTPS / SSL / Crypto Method Calls. (Doc ID 1516365.1)

Symptoms

When using GlassFish 2.x with Java 1.6 on Solaris,  the GlassFish Server does not respond to HTTPS / SSL requests. The Java thread dump performed on the GlassFish Server shows the following thread dump / stack trace with most of the threads stalling in around "sun.security.okcs11.*".
