Symptoms

dbx 7.9/Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3.

 

dbx unpatched fails to correctly process # and ## macros.

A wide variety of symptoms is possible. The below two examples show dbx failure when processing #define macros.

 

Example 1:

Changes

The problem is specific to dbx 7.9 unpatched.

The problem is very likely to occur when the code was compiled with -g or -g0.

The problem is less likely to occur if -g3 was used to compile the code.
