Event Based Gateway used in BPM Correlation Throws a Scope Metadata Was Corrupt Error (Doc ID 1520765.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to invoke the 'Wait for notification' procedure via Enterprise Manager (EM) web application SOA administration console using the same correlation key for 'start' procedure invocation, the following error occurs:

The scope associated with the block element "EVENT_BASED_GATEWAY4948330931122_ebg" is not defined in the current instance.
This was an internal error. The scope metadata was corrupt.
Contact Oracle Support Services. Provide the error message, the composite source, and the exception stack trace in the log files (with the logging level set to debug mode).

Cannot resolve scope.
