Error "Index name {asset type} not found at path {path}" When Searching for a Newly Indexed Asset Type in the Contributor UI (Doc ID 1521545.1)

Symptoms

Searching for a newly indexed asset type fails with the message "Error occurred during search. Please change your search query and try again. If the problem persists, please contact your system administrator."

The sites.log contains errors:
