Does CSDT change the ID of the asset each time an Import is done? (Doc ID 1523254.1)

What happens in this scenario?

Developer A creates a new definition.
Developer A exports the definition.
Developer A commits the definition to VCS (Version Control System).
Developer B pulls the definition from VCS.
Developer B imports the definition on his local instance. The definition gets a new ID.
Developer B makes a change to the definition.
Developer B exports the definition.
Developer B commits the definition to VCS.
Developer A pulls the definition from VCS.
Developer A imports the definition on his local instance. What happens then? The CSDT XML for the asset definition now has a new ID. Does the Sites understand that it is the same definition?
