Symptoms

Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 11g with Directory Integration Platform (DIP).

Scenario 1:

Unable to start WLS wls_ods1 Manged Server after applying an OID or Directory Integration Platform (DIP) patch.

The startup screen output hangs after the following message:

weblogic.ejb.container.compliance.ComplianceException: In EJB DIPProv, the throws clause for method closedConnection() in the bean class contains exceptions that are NOT in the throws clause of the local interface method.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:
1. Apply an OID or DIP patch
2. Attempt to start WLS Managed Server


Scenario 2:

Users fail to login in SSO enabled application (Oracle Access Manager / OAM).  Once the username and password are supplied at the OAM page, it hangs for OID authentication.  Trying to restart WLS Admin and Managed Servers and the error then occurs:
