Cannot Remove Group that User is a Member Of (Doc ID 1525955.1)

Last updated on JULY 26, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

In WebCenter Spaces we have two main groups for security at this stage of development.
1. A group for all administrators. This group has moderator access.
2. A group for all public view only users which includes everyone in the organization. This group has viewer access.

I am in the administrator group and the of course the public view group. If I try to remove the public view group from a space I get the following warning message:

“Membership not changed for group OID All Internal Users. You cannot manage the membership of this group because your own membership is granted through this group. Only direct members who have manage permission can manage the membership of groups.”

So in essence I cannot remove any group that I am a member of even if my access is granted by a different group on a particular space. How then can I effectively manage group access if I cannot remove groups in this scenario?
