Stuck Messages in SAF Imported Destination When the Size of the Message Exceeds the Maximum Message Size Configured in the Remote Destination (Doc ID 1530224.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 18, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.0 to 12.1.1.0
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Messages sent to a SAF Imported Destination where the size of the message exceeds the Maximum Message Size configured in the actual (remote) destination will remain "stuck" on the SAF agent side. The message won't expire (even if the TTL has expired) and the SAF Error handling won't kick in. The message just remains in the imported destination, and any subsequent attempts to send new messages, even if the size now does not exceed the maximum, will result in those messages also becoming stuck.

Also, there's no way to delete or move the "big size message" in the SAF imported destination using the WLS Admin Console, as it is possible for "normal queues." The only way to get rid of the messages is by doing "Purge All" for a Remote Endpoint.

The following exception will be logged in the server's log:
