How to Customize Parallel Page Engine Parameters in Portal 11g? (Doc ID 1530295.1)

Goal

Unlike PortalAS 10g, Parallel Page Engine (PPE) parameters are customized in the application configuration file (appConfig.xml) instead of the "web.xml". The customized parameters in "appConfig.xml" file is read by the deployment tool everytime Portal is started or deployed. Furthermore, the "appConfig.xml" is not an integral part of the application, as such, the Portal application is not meddled with in any way.

To illustrate the process, step-by-step details to customize one of the PPE parameters (wsrpCouldNotGetMarkupMsg) is documented below.
