Configuration Of Portal 11g Domain Fails At 70% While Deploying Portal and Application "portalHelp2" Does Not Start (Doc ID 1538061.1)

As part of the upgrade from Oracle Portal release 10g to Oracle Portal 11g release 1, one needs to configure an Oracle Portal 11g domain and instance with the Oracle 10g metadata repository. This step is documented in the Portal Upgrade Guide :

While performing the configuration, the Portal configuration wizard ( on Unix based systems / config.cmd on Windows based systems) generates an error message when attempting to create a ClassicProducts domain associated with a 10g Portal metadata repository :
