Cannot delete single page from multi-page document in Windows or Web Client

Symptoms
When attempting to delete a single page from a multi-page document using either the Windows Client or the Web Client, the user gets the following pop-up error message.
These are the three errors found in the DocumentIndex server logs:
1.) ODBC Error: HY000Description: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-00936: missing expression
2.) Failure occurred in message class CModifyDocuments.
3.) Index Server failed to process the modify documents message. Received ODBC error ODBC Error: HY000Description: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-00936: missing expression.
