Oracle Traffic Director keepalived Fails to Bind Virtual IP Address (Doc ID 1546250.1)

Symptoms

Although keepalived is started upon instance startup, keepalived fails to bind the Virtual IP address defined in keepalived.conf with the following message.

 

- /var/log/message (log message from keeplalived process)

...

Apr 11 11:55:54 vm01 Keepalived_vrrp: ip address associated with VRID not present in received packet : xxx.xxx.xxx.201
Apr 11 11:55:54 vm01 Keepalived_vrrp: one or more VIP associated with VRID mismatch actual MASTER advert
Apr 11 11:55:54 vm01 Keepalived_vrrp: bogus VRRP packet received on bond1 !!!
Apr 11 11:55:54 vm01 Keepalived_vrrp: VRRP_Instance(otd-vrrp-router-1) ignoring received advertisment...

...

 

You don't see the Virtual IP address under the interface specified in the keepalived.conf.

[root@vm01 config]# ip addr show
...

3: eth1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000
  link/ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx brd xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
