Fetching CLOB From an XML Object Shows a NULL Character at the LOB Prefetch Boundary (Doc ID 1547905.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 23, 2021

Applies to:

JDBC - Version 11.2.0.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

JDBC programs that read an XMLType object from a table using the ResultSet.getString() method receive a NULL character at the 4000th byte.  This causes XML file corruption or truncation.

This behavior appears to manifest with the use of some character sets.
