BPM 11g: NullPointerException in Update Template Wizard (Doc ID 1554617.1)

Symptoms

While using BPM Composer 11.1.1.7.0 version.
Create a BPM project template in JDeveloper and saves it to MDS.
Create a Project in BPM composer based on the template created in previous step.
Update the Project Template again using JDeveloper,overwrite save it back again to MDS.
The BPM project in BPM composer shows out of date. On clicking update with
"Make a snapshot of the project before updating it." option selected, the
Project fails to update with the following error.

If we uncheck the option "Make a snapshot of the project before updating it." the BPM project in Composer gets updated.
