PDF Output Shows Blank with Font Embedding in 11gR1 and 11gR2

When Reports Server is setup to use Font Embedding, the report PDF output is displayed BLANK. Checking the content of the generated PDF file in text viewers (like Notepad or vi) the Descent and BBOX values are not correct.
The problem is reported for Reports versions 11.1.1.4, 11.1.1.6, 11.1.2.0
Changes
"Font Embedding" is setup for Reports Server (see <Note:882227.1> for details)
