OSB 11g - Business Service Truncating Return String to 4000 Characters When Using DB Adapter with MS SQL Server (Doc ID 1559108.1)

Symptoms

There is a Stored Procedure in MS SQL Server that will query multiple tables and construct an XML document to be returned as a string. This Stored Procedure is invoked via a OSB business service with DB Adapter, and the following two scenarios have been seen:

1 - When the Stored Procedure returns nvarchar(max), varchar(max) or text as output, the Business Service truncates the output string to 4000 characters.
2 - When the Stored Procedure returns XML as output, the following error is thrown:
