GGSCI On IBM ISeries Returning Error On Execution (Doc ID 1561433.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 12, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle GoldenGate - Version 11.2.1.0.6 and later
IBM i on POWER Systems

Goal

When attempting to execute 'ggsci', you get the following error:
> ./ggsci
./ggsci: 001-0049 Syntax error on line 1: token word not expected, expecting token ")".

The untar command seems to have worked OK - and all of the sample 'sql' scripts within the iSeries directores are all readable - so this error doesn't appear to be caused by a corrupted zip/tar file.
The failed execution of ggsci hasn't generated any additional log files.
You used qsh to run GGSCI.
